I didn't want to raise the Saints because like most on the board, I hold to the view that the number one horror scenario is that these pricks win the
flag.
In terms of pure visceral hatred ... it's a no contest.
I know the accepted wisdom here is that they'll implode in usual style, but I just watched yesterday's game. Phew ... that was at an altogether
different level from any other match I've seen this year.
Thankfully they don't hand out premierships in July (otherwise we'd have a few more)... but if someone else can tell me of a season in their memory
when the top two stood so far above the rest, in mid winter, I'd like to be reminded of it.

If they stay injury free they are a good chance. Take one of their key players out and I think they won't cope. That's the difference to Geelong who
can cope with the loss of any player.

I would not be holding my hat on that one Greg.
Beams would have been a certainty had Grimes not pulled out a blinder on the Sunday. Beams' game was as solid a performance as he has had for us. Quite impressive. Where as Grimes' was a best on ground and he took the Brownlow votes also. However, you are right he did not get the chocolates. That is only a matter of time though. |

Maybe Beams was smart enough to realise his abilities. Instead of tying himself to a low based contract for two years,he knew he would stand a good chance of a
fair lift in pay.
If his form continues,and there is no reason why it shouldn't, the club will throw the farm at him. It's probably far too early to call but he looks long term. A baby in football terms but starting a long way in front of a plethora of high draft picks. Wouldn't the Dreamons be salivating if their Great White Hope had come into the seniors as ready to play as Beams. |

CANBERRA i wouldnt put my house on it but i think BEAMS is on a 2 year contract - i remember reading new draftees automatically go on a 2 year contract at base
contract - but i wouldnt argue the point about it - if anyone knows let me know.
