Posts: 799 25-Jun-2009 21:14:17	Surprised with Marty Clarke being left out he didn't do much last week but I didn't think they'd drop him, stuffs up my dreamteam as well. Good to see Dawes given a go hopefully they give him more than one game, also wouldn't surprise me to see either Medhurst or Wood come in for Anthony. I hope we don't drop this one, we're red hot favorites which worries me but I think we should get over line. I hope anyhow.

Madhouse continues to make life hard for Josh, as he has from the first time he walked in to the club. He flogged him in to the ground in his first season. Now he puts him on the biggest man in the game without backup.

Posts: 1928 26-Jun-2009 10:11:32	Bit of a knee jerk reaction to Clarke having one bad game. Very stiff to be dropped imo. I don't agree that we can't win a premiership with him. I believe he's one of our better players and one of the more effective half backs in the league. Good to see Beams back in the squad. I can see the rational behind picking Dawes. If there is one game we can afford to blood him it is now. He has one chance to shine or a fear it could be curtains for him.

I believe MG is refering to Malthouse's penchant in the past to picking Leon Davis when at times he should have been dropped, but wasn't due to his race supposedly, thus the link with Marty Clarke. No one is immune to being dropped and as much as I like Marty he did need a spell. Last time he was dropped he responded well, but the timing isn't great given Marty's request to return to Ireland during rounds 16 & 17 due his sister's wedding. I'm off to watch training, so I'll have a report up later.

Posts: 2869 26-Jun-2009 16:23:31	I went along to training this morning at Goschs Paddock. From the selected 22, Leon Davis didn't train and wasn't sighted at all. The extras who trained were Paul Medhurst, Marty Clarke, Steele Sidebottom and Anthony Corrie . Cameron Wood didn't train with the seniors nor the VFL team prior to the senior session. Medders trained exceptionally well. Jack Anthony was given a mini fitness test and pressed hard to impress the doctors and coaches although he did look a little limited whilst training during the session and I wouldn't be surprised if he was a late change tomorrow.

Easiest thing in the world would be to make just the one enforced change but that would breed the same sort of complatency that would concern me going into a game like this. I like things being shaken up even when we're going well, especially for a game that on the surface isn't massive.

The lack of a ruck is fast becoming a moot point for us as we have been without one for so long...we continually score goals after losing a clearance.. However, if we run into the aints in a final we may lose simply bc of this problem. IMO, 2-2 will be the best we can get out of the next 4 weeks: Bombers: average, but own us Blues: shiteous, but own us Dogs: good side, Dawks. Hard to tell, but only need 10 mins to put us away. I tip wins against Dons and Dogs. That's all

However i do think its best if we wait and see how the year finishes before even thinking about MM. The next four weeks will show us how good we really are. Essendon are playing really well, have great leg speed and brilliant skills. The dogs are premiership contenders and have over ran us in the last half on previous occasions. Carlton have had the wood over us and smashed us 6 weeks ago but have been poor since. Hawthorn are playing poorly and key players are either injured or not performing.
