Les Bowen, of the Philadelphia Daily News, reports the Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to terms with Australian Football League P Salverio Rocca. The deal is for a non-guaranteed three-year contract. Australia's National Nine TV news show first reported Rocca would sign with the team. "It's mixed feelings, because it's quite exciting if you make it and go all the way. That environment, for the family, it's a bit hectic, because we're just not sure how far we're going to go... They can terminate the contract after 1 day if they want to. I've got to get over there and show 'em that I'm fairly good and I can kick just as good as, if not better than, who they've got there at the moment," Rocca said. He expects to arrive in Philadelphia in late March, but said he is not sure if he will bring his family right away.

I'm waiting to get a definition of what's been agreed to, but the way I understand it is that both Sav and the Eagles have agreed to terms of a three year contract, although once he signs, there is no guarantee that he will remain with the Eagles for the length of the contract.

Basically, he's committed himself to try-out with them, and if he gets beyond the initial stage, he could eventually be assigned to an NFL Europa squad. NFL Europa consists of six teams - one based in Amsterdam, the other five in Germany. The player draft for this season will take place in the next couple of weeks, so Sav will more than likely remain at the Eagles training facility learning the intricacies of punting in the NFL. Other Aussies to have played in Europe were Nathan Chapman (who was assigned by Green Bay) and Jon Ballantyne (yes, the same Jon Ballantyne who played for Collingwood) when he was on the Denver off season roster. At least these two got further into the process than Richard Osbourne!

However, if the training staff feel as though he won't make it, he can be cut at any time and look elsewhere if he wants to continue persuing a career in the NFL.

Dewd, when anything is written about an NFL player, their position is always put before their name.

I have no idea why, but it has been that way for as long as I've been following the NFL.

For example, if Acka had've followed through with his 'threat' of trying out as a running back, we would have been reading about RB Jason Ackermanis, or maybe if you wanted to try out as a Quarterback, you'd be known as QB Cooldewd.
