Funnily enough, we haven't played against the Hawks in a final for 30 odd years.
Which is a stat that I find amazing. |

Watching them tonight further confirms in my mind just how good they are. We simply can't get near these guys they are awesome. We may as well tank and
get draft picks I am afraid.

They beat us by 10 goals plus TWICE last year. TWICE.
Even if we manage to beat them this year while they are having their premiership hang over - what does it prove? The Dude |

If they hand us a premiership cup for beating the Hawks in a couple weeks time - that would be great...but regrettably it doesn't fucking matter numbnuts. They will still get to keep their 2008 Premiership cup and we will still have nothing. But hey, you can be one of those Collingwood supporting wankers that boast to anyone who listens about our "famous victory's" over teams on the way up or on the way down....but NEVER when it matters most. You only get the prize when you win the last game in September. Geddit? Let's start by beating some teams that matter this year - like beating the Bulldogs TWICE on the run home. Ya reckon we can do it Santoss? The Dude |

No one said Hawthorn would win the next 5 flags, spine snapper.
We did say that Geelong and Hawthorn are ahead of us and we wont get over them to win the flag. Nothing has changed. In fact it might be even harder still now that the Saints have pantsed us this year and we play the Bulldogs twice in 8 weeks. Interesting how your enjoyment of the taste of your own duck butter has increased. |

I will try and make it nice and simple for you Santoss, just so your pea brain can understand:
Between 1968 and 1982 we beat Carlton MANY times in home and away games and finals.... How many flags did we win in that time frame? ZERO. How many flags did Carlton win in that era? SIX. The jury rests your honour. The Dude

SANTOSSA werent you saying once we get our players back from injuries we would start winning and blowing your own trumpet about how great we were by beating
the bottom sides with just about our best side.
now the hawks have injuries its not a excuse but there a shit side - you cannot have it both ways or maybe you can - do injuries count or not. as the DUDE said beat the bullies twice and the crows and ffs thrash the scum and ill be happy - the bullies were really impressive tonight so it will be a good test next week so beat them then start crowing. |

I think Spine Snapper should be called Soap Dropper. I think he drops it deliberately.
Around 8 weeks ago I thought we would be lucky to get to the top 4. The structure of our side now and the style of play says we should be a chance now. It is all in our own hands. Wins against Footscray have become imperatives. Tonight's result gave them a huge % boost. If we can maintain our structure and just keep doing what we have done for the last 6 weeks I don't think we would fear any side. |

SOAP i agree to a lot of what you said - there is a few players whose heads we were calling for weeks ago and i want to see them stand up against QUALITY
opposition when the pressure is on - not against the bottom sides who are pathetic - the bullies will be a test - i want to see what plan we revert to when the
heat is on.

In 2002 somebody wrote an article about Collingwood. It was to do with what we had achieved that season so far.
From memory the exact description was "the sum of the parts is greater than the whole". It was an attempt to describe how we performed above our weight division. If you look at our current side realistically it has far more skill overall than the 2002 side. Buckley aside there is a better spread of skills and we are a pacier side. We may not be as experienced as that side but we seem to have picked up a crop of fast learners. This year mightn't be our year and yet anything can happen. What we have put in place is a future. Something to look forward to. |

Point in Case Dude was last year against Geelong...they had an off night, we were on and demolished them. End result? FUCK ALL.
Thats what we have come to rely on over the years. We have never gone into a GF favourites because we always have too many deficiencies. I, along with us all, would love to be proven wrong, but with Fraser in the ruck against the best we would be slaughtered on GF day, again. Plus Trav is hardly the type to tear it up on the big stage. A big imposing ruckman, a J Brown CHF, and a key back, aside from Presti and i would be fairly confident of getting it done. But alas atm we rely on too many variables to win a flag. No doubt though we can give sides a scare should we qualify top 4.. |

Geelong fear us. It is part of their culture. It has been for over 50 years. We have derailed their finals too many times.
Let's be honest. When they beat us by 5 points it took Ottens playing his greatest game and no Fraser. It was a flag for the taking. Irrespective of anyone's opinion of Fraser he may well have made the difference. The Fraser we need is the Fraser who turned up on Friday. The Fraser with second and third efforts. When you analyze the game earlier this year,we were short on personnel and lost Johnson early. They didn't quite bury us. Our structure is so much better now. Geelong fear us. They fear our best. That is what it will take. |

They didn't bury us in the match earlier in the year and we also missed a damn lot of shots on goal in the 2nd quarter were we could have built a pretty
handy lead.

OK, let's get real here....
If we finish 4th chances are we will play tgeelong in the first final at the G. OK, so we may beat them (we are always good for atleast one gutsy "backs to the wall" finals victory). Then we play a prelim. Against Dogs or Saints it would seem. Can you see us beating either one of those teams after having beaten Geelong? OK, so now we have beaten StKilda/Footscray in a prelim... Can you see us beating Geelong again inside a month? I do not believe we have that level of consistency to beat 3 quality teams in a row. One day we might. At the moment we are relying on "off nights" for the opposition to make it happen. Make no mistake - Geelong had stage fright in the 2007 prelim - it was not because we were THAT good. Having said that, we SHOULD have beaten them and then won a flag. However, that is always the story at Collingwood - we shoulda, we coulda, we're gunna. Until you actually DO IT it is all fuckin bullshit peddled by the deluded masses as exemplified by the resident pea brain santo. The Dude |

yeah CD
... remember when we used joke about how hopeless the Cats were, how they were piss weak handbaggers who'd choke and never win a flag ... ... when we were certain the Hawks were a least a coupla years off being serious contenders. .. what about and those days when we'd laugh ourselves sick at the hapless Bris bears - what a joke of team. Couldn't beat an egg at the G! .... Sydney Swans as Premiers ... you gotta be fucking joking ... b-graders the lot of them ... the Saints as a genuine flag prospect? Riewoldt and Kozie the real deal? Stop it ... or I'll die laughing ... ... Just imagine how awful THAT coming to fruition would be. But it couldn't happen - could it? |
