Daics vs Didak |

I just found this on the AFL website it's an article by Leigh Matthews comparing Didak with Daicos. I thought some of you may find it
interesting. I think Matthews sums it up pretty well. http://www.afl.com.au/new...ewsid/79207/default.aspx

Ever the pragmatist, Matthews still knows his stuff. Hasn't lostis plottis yet like a couple other current and former coaching 'gurus'.

The Daics/Dids thing is a NO CONTEST.
two things I'd say about Matthews article. 1. There's a tendency by media types (of which Matthews is now one) to not want to overly offend current players ..and thus they're given them the benefit of the doubt. 2. He's sopt on Daic's being ahead of his time. You might see plenty of freakish goals these days ... you didn't it the Daics era. It's why he stood out. And bags of goals by flankers is fairly rare these days. Daics would make todays ff blush. A freak. |

At the Fawkner hotel 15 odd years ago, Barney mentioned that he thought Daics' weaknesses was he could be tagged out of a game quite easily for a gun
player - not in that article though.
"you didn't it the Daics era. It's why he stood out. And bags of goals by flankers is fairly rare these days. Daics would make todays ff blush." ablett snr would also make them blush, and break defenders in half these days |

ABLETT would spend most of the season in the stands watching after being suspended by the pussy of the MRP - the elf anderson wouldnt like his tough style of
play.

I got to see the pontiff pre VFL / AFL. even then he was developing an aura, and a couple of the coaches thought that due to his speed and strength, it was
dangerous for the other players (who were generally unfit) to leave him out on the paddock.
Daics was also well known pre-VFL in the nth suburbs. When he was selected for his first game, nearly every guy at my school had an older brother who had played in a side against him. |

Tarz, I am now going to call the authorities. This is becoming disturbing.
I hope you did not step out in Iran like that. Especially without the matching clutch. Hmmmmm.....................Things are becoming clearer. |

Daics was a genius...and as for "being easily tagged out of a game" - let's get real here...how often did that happen?
I am not looking back through rose coloured glasses, but the rare times Daicos was blanketed by someone, it made headline news. It was that rare. The guy was simply a freak of nature. The Dude |

O'Donnell hung his career hat on the ability restrict Daicos to a lazy 2-3 goals per game.... that tells you enough.

they were Lethal's comments - why bother arguing
to Daics' defence, there was hardly anyone else to tag for a large chunk of the 80s, so they would rotate tags on him. Brown, Mcguane, Francis, russell, Wright etc gave clubs more food for thought 87-92 which obviously helped Daics |

great players are even better when surrounded by quality. Should've been a a two flag (minimum) era that one.
Pants death sums up the waste. |
