JOSH was a star at U18 level and so was COLE who was touted as a NUMBER 1 pick by all the so called experts and look at the results - once again U18 form is not a indication of how good you will be especially if your nearly 7 foot tall playing against kids 6 foot tall or your 85 to 90 kilos playing against kids 60 kilos - still not a exact science recruiting and never will be - need a lot of luck.

agree with dids on the big day and throw davis in there as well.

the fact is some players play there absolute best in h&a season and cannot find anymore come finals time when you have to find another gear.

dids was a elite U18 mid but MM always plays him forward and should have been trained harder to build a tank to go to mid when we were crying out for mids.

so far we have beaten 1 side in the 8 and the others we have beaten are shit - lets wait and see if we can turn the results back on the scum - bombers - hawks - crows and the dogs and then we will be a genuine top 4.

EV couldnt agree more - i was absolutely rapt at the time when we finished bottom to get first crack at JOSH - 15 other clubs would certainly have taken him at first pick - MM ? i assume thats who you mean who said he wouldnt play much first year yet played 21 games in the ruck - any wonder he gets injured and has a bad back.

the point on U18 level is you cannot count on kids stepping up to the mark at AFL level - didnt B MORRISSON kick 8 goals app at 14 years old in a senior game - m mcguane was a big rap for him and look where that finished.

id rather a mid size kid who will grow in the first 3 or 4 years instead of a big kid who dominates little kids.

PAV was an exception who slimmed down a lot but he was prepared to work but that could apply to anyone who really wants it.

RICH is a strongly built kid who played against men and i would guess he would have to watch his weight.

yes TARZ you are spot on - did you see him in the state game SA vs VFA i think it was at the time - but he still showed he had some ability but everybody over looked him - so someone must have got in his ear about his weight and fitness - still wish we had him now.
