I think the A Richardson loss has cost us dearly. It was the one area where we were truly the pace-setters, so he wanted an expanded role, why not give it to
him and still have him over-seeing player development??? Typical MM stubborness and its the stubborness, the refusal to change that must see him gone.

The information I've received (the fellow handling the sale is known to my friends (who work at the same company/went to same school) is that this isn't the case. The write off will be another $3 Million & the deal is almost over the brink. |

Ro ask them about the impact of the legislative impasse. That is one of the major issues and is leading to all sales in the industry being delayed. banks
won't lend when they cannot rely on forecast revnue.

It is interesting that the club has not provided an update.
Eddie said it was his idea to purchase The Beach. He is paying his mates (read consultants) $10K a month to manage the pubs until settlement. The silence is deafening. And they got stuck into poor old Bobby Rose for his $18K a year he got paid from the club!

I think we will finish 4-8 with Geel, St.K and Haw making the top three.

6th (mond)
Foot in each camp. This list has the ability to flag, but there are too many variables. We need top 4 (15 wins). Once there it's a lottery. I refuse to give up on '09 because on our day we can beat anybody. That was not the case in '02 - compare the teams (ours and the oppositions) and look at the results. We have a very good list, and when the gameplan counters the oppositions strengths we get the job done. We have everything needed to win the flag THIS YEAR. THE game is required, along with the correct team selection. THE game was demonstrated for all to see last year (St Kilda have played it all of 2009). We will make it to the second week of finals. Whether we make it further depends upon the license MM gives his players. Aggression, intensity and flair. IMHO |

ev425128 wrote:A little less optimism, thanks Ev (says the guy who picked us for second or third- I can't remember which). On the list- yeah, it's good. And on it's day, it can do (nearly) anything. However, this list isn't capable of winning four finals in a row having won only twelve / thirteen games for the year, despite a dream draw. This year won't be it. As with the previous two years, we just won't finish high enough- yet again, losses to Essendon and Carlton will hurt badly by September. Treat this year as the last year of Malthouse. Minimise expectation, otherwise there'll be a lot of Collingwood supporting basket cases up north by the end of the year. Well, there'll be at least one. We'll make 6th, *maybe* win a final, and that's it. Jack Anthony will still be leading goal kicker though. |

Collingwood is actually 1 of very few sides that could win a flag from 5-8. It would be hard. With the side we have, many young kids playing and the
constant threat of a lesser side playing their GF's against Collingwood, it is very hard for us to finish top 4. However, in finals we have proven under MM
that we are able to step up to another notch that not many other sides can. This means we will nearly always beat sides that are equal or lesser than us but
give us a huge chance of beating better sides than us.

this is quite amusing if you read from the start........optimism, then despair.....now I'm sure most would stick to their pre-season predictions.....just
goes to show you never know what is around the corner...

For a supposed negative site, a shitload of us tipped us to finish 3rd/4th. A lot of good judges round here.

I'm pretty happy with my predictions at this stage:
Ladder Postion: 3rd Leading Goal Kicker: Anthony followed closely by a slow starting Medhurst Leading Brownlow Votes: Swan with the eye-catching tats Copeland: Heath Shaw Biggest Improver: Macarthy or Cox depending on opportunity Biggest Disapointment: Rusling - is yet to impress me at all Biggest Hack to debut: Dunno Who has been our biggest hack? Maybe Corrie? I didn't get that one. Also Macarthy & Cox have not come on. Biggest improver would be Maxwell? |
