I really hate it on TV news bulletins, broadcasters pronouncing "says" as "sez".
It makes me hopping mad, but it goes on all the time. The Dude |

Yeah dewd, and what about when they talk about a period of time?
How often do they say 'munce' instead of 'months'? "It's been two munce since ....." |

My pet hate is when flying (edit: carbon offsets already purchased, of course), and the cabin steward informs me to fasten my seatbelt in preparation for our 'landing into Brisbane.'

I quite enjoy reading the Cracked site from time to time. They tend to aim articles at Gen X.
Anyhow, I thought some of these were surprising...: www.cracked.com/article_1...think.html |

Nice little mixed metaphor from Clokenator.
When you are at the coal face it is very hard to see the forests from the trees in these marketsI'd have thought the lack of light down there would also make it tough.

"All goes well" should be augurs well- from "auguries", i.e. to see the future.
"Intensive purposes" should be "intents and purposes", or even "intents, constructions, and purposes." Meaning, for all practical purposes. Strictly speaking, the "intents" and "purposes" are redundant, however the saying is still "intents and purposes" in common English. The intensity of the purpose doesn't come into it. "Hence why" should be simply "hence" or "that's why". |

present tense / past tense jibberish. Police seem to do it a lot. Throw in the odd "could of" for good measure.
"We've boarded passengers, [the captain has] started the engine and he's received an indication light in the cockpit of low oil pressure in one of the engines," a Qantas spokeswoman said. |
