I really hate it on TV news bulletins, broadcasters pronouncing "says" as "sez".

How often do they say 'munce' instead of 'months'? "It's been two munce since ....." |

My pet hate is when flying (edit: carbon offsets already purchased, of course), and the cabin steward informs me to fasten my seatbelt in preparation for our 'landing into Brisbane.'

"All goes well" should be augurs well- from "auguries", i.e. to see the future.
"Intensive purposes" should be "intents and purposes", or even "intents, constructions, and purposes." Meaning, for all practical purposes. Strictly speaking, the "intents" and "purposes" are redundant, however the saying is still "intents and purposes" in common English. The intensity of the purpose doesn't come into it. "Hence why" should be simply "hence" or "that's why". |
