Ryder was 7 in 05. - other than ANZAC Day, how many good games has this guy played? Not many.
Higgins was 11 in 05. - a decent player. Birchall was 14 in 05. - a handy player in an excellent team. Ibbotson was 26 in 05. - who? McKinley was 29 in 05. - who? Matthew Stokes was 61 in 05. - a handy player in a brilliant team. If he played for us, he would struggle to get a kick. |

Higgins will be a gun player IMO (reminds me a lot of Acker) and Ibbotson is a very creative, fast, rangy half back/winger will very good foot skills. Is
now playing regular good footy for Freo. Ryder is a tall so you cut him some slack.

Sana...we HAD pick 7. Eh, so it was a stupid trade, rather than deciding to take Egan over Lewis. Though if we didn't do #7 + Nixon for #10 + Morrison, we might have grabbed Egan or Meesen at 7 anyway. If it was Lewis that slipped to #10, then trading for Morrison doesn't look anywhere near as stupid. Same as if we drafted Joel Corey instead of Danny Roach, trading for Stunner would have actually looked sensible. |

If Ryder is a spud, I shudder to think what that makes Reid, N Brown and Big Bad Josh.

The drafts before that (ie Egan instead of Jordan Lewis) etc that are list killers.
C/D i dont know if you remember but BALME was ridiculed by collingwood supporters everywhere with comments like eating all the bread rolls and all that shit but said on radio and in the papers if anyone can recall he wanted THE PAV and JORDAN LEWIS and was going to trade DIDAK but MM had the final say and put the kabosh on them. MM really wanted the crab ffs why i do not know. tigers would have given McKEE away a fucking joke trading pick 3 for 7. remember the other star ruckmen we got from tigers BRAD SMITH - SCHAEFER fuck they must have been laughing there heads off TONY JEWELL thought it was hilarious - kevin rose said to jewell you got us again re smith and thats a fact. |

i'm still happy we got daisy. must be a lone ranger though...
the thing that holds us back is maltys luv for battlers. and because of that we play like crabs so these spuds don't get fully exposed. can someone please explain what he is trying to teach cox by playing him in the twos. easily our most attacking player - maybe thats the answer. still waiting for the docs 411... that fact he's not in the crosshairs means he has wit. too many shit players getting games coz they 'try hard'. how long would players with injunctions over their heads last at our club. |

There is a "rumor" about a player and MM having a push and shove.
Would Didak's injury have anything to do with this? |

Just reviewing the replay Bux threw in a " came to play " which is worrying. SOB actually moved pretty well, but as I said a few weeks ago his
kicking looks in trouble.
As for C3, even by my modest expectations, he just doesnt look right. A few weeks off injured may be timely. Ever watched old games and thought, FMG , did we recruit that so and so reject ? I dont think there will be much arguement about Leroy and Corrie being in that category in future replays. Sticking to my Sidey prognosis. |

mm35, you aren't on your lonesome. I think he has something too. A better pick than the #1 for sure. #5 is better than both though.

BH, not really relevant to this thread, but...
2005 national draft. Reckon you could rate the top ten in order of output so far? Murphy Thomas Ellis Kennedy Pendlebury Dowler Ryder Oakley-Nicholls Clark Drum Now I haven't seen enough of Clark to give a real opinion, but he may become something. Ryder has had one excellent game but not much more than glimpses beyond that. Has Drum played a game? Someone help me here. IMO Pendlebury Thomas Murphy Ryder Clark Kennedy (this kid is ok - tazlike) Ellis/Dowler Oakley-Nicholls Drum* *I don't think I've seen Drum play, so he may fit anywhere. |

I don't know why pie fans put murphy down so much, very good player, better than Daisy as he is more consistent and on a par with Pendles IMO.
I am not overly fussed about some of our kids development. It seems to be normal for kids to burst onto the scene, look like they will take over the world and then have a couple of off seasons due to injury and/or form. They then seem to settle and come back (so to speak) as better more consistent players. Brisbane had a shocking year before they truly rose, Geelong had that bad year, Hawthorn are having it now and St Kilda also went through it. I am not competely turned off re the talent on the list but I am turned off by MM and Eddie. Had enought of both of them, one is a stubborn old prick who won't change with the times and the other one has become a bag of piss and wind. I suspect I will see the back of one of them which will match MM's win loss record so I guess thats good enough. |

BH, Have to disagree. Sidebottom shows that he actually knows where to position himself to get to the ball or even get it himself. Beams has similar traits.
Both fairly proficient at this. They both are good users of the ball also. IMO both should be played along side Davis, Swan, Pendles, Thomas. Add Barham, McCarthy, Wellingham. We may actually get some results. It is a sad indictment that two 17 year olds are far more advanced as footballers than the likes of Obree, Stanley, Toovey, Corrie. And have more value than the likes of L.Brown,Rocca. |
