Take out VFL/AFL members and they would have been lucky to have 7,500 paying patrons. Massive loss.

Fuck of Yze, don't let the glass kiss your arse.
And Jimmy Stynes fuck off. I don't want to hear you asking for money for your beggar like club. Just re-locate to Calcutta and let Mother Teresa look after you, like your club, shes dead. |

Methane | #1286 | ||

Ha ha so Melbourne are moving to Casey Fields, Cranbourne!
Ha ha so they will be quite literally moving to a tip! Still Gary Lyon will be right at home amongst the methane. Can't wait for his comedy 'skit' on the footy show re this. Still as the deal has not been signed and the council is now faced with a multi million dollar law suit they may find the council withdraws the offer as the need to reserve funds for a potential pay out. |

That would be great pubs.
All of a sudden our little dung heap in the middle of the city isnt looking too bad. Better than driving out to Frankston or Cranbogg. |

well, they are once again after another handout from the AFL. Looks like stynes has already failed, as he wasn't able to geneate the cash from supporters.
They are also on plan C for a home and have given up on the place in the 'burbs. After giving up on Lexus. Maybe they could use one of the failed ABC
learning centres.

They want $2m. Time to euthanise them.
MELBOURNE is hoping to receive as much as $2 million in special assistance from the AFL next season.
The Demons were due to receive only $250,000 next season, but president Jim Stynes made a pitch to the AFL for significantly more a fortnight ago. Stynes is expecting a final call on the level of assistance at next month's AFL Commission hearing. Although Stynes refused to confirm the amount the Demons are chasing, the Herald Sun believes the club settled on a $2 million request. If the commission approves the request, the Demons will surpass the Western Bulldogs' $1.7 million assistance in 2009. Stynes has pledged to work closely with the league. "We really need the AFL to support us," Stynes said. The AFL has announced it is tightening its belt because of the global financial crisis, but the Demons' chances of an unprecedented cash injection have not been harmed by the Stynes board being so prudent. Melbourne will pay only 92.5 per cent of the salary cap next year and has launched other cost-cutting measures. "We've really cut back. We've really reduced our costs," Stynes said. "We've demonstrated what we can do, but we've still got to grow the business." The Demons are heading for a 2008 loss of more than $2 million, with an announcement expected soon. The $3 million raised under the Debt Demolition campaign will not be thrown into the mix but be used, as promised, to pay off the debt. "We will make sure we keep the Debt Demolition money separate even though it has reduced our losses for this year," Stynes said. "Really, the business made a loss, a significant loss. People have donated just to reduce debt." The Demons received $1 million from the AFL this year. "We're in a really tough economic climate. It's incredible how things have turned in six months," Stynes said. The Demons are still without a major backer, and almost certain No. 1 draft pick Jack Watts will not have a sponsor's logo on his shirt when he fronts the cameras on Saturday. Stynes, who has been in a caretaker role, will officially become president at the club's annual general meeting, expected to be held in January. The rest of his new team will be re-elected unopposed. Nominations for the board closed last Wednesday, with no challengers emerging. Avoiding an election has saved the club about $50,000 in mail-outs and logistics. "It's great we can get on with the business we need to do because there's a fair bit ahead of us," Stynes said. The Demons had considered announcing their No. 1 draft pick on Friday to maximise their exposure. But it is understood the AFL wanted to maintain at least some element of surprise. "We fully expect Melbourne to announce it on the day," AFL media manager Patrick Keane said. |

A thought just popped into head.
I know that's dangerous! The Irish Gaelic Footy mob want an AFL licence. Why not sell the Dees to them. They have a shitload of cash available. |

Barrassi bashed | #1296 | ||
|
Hmm wonder whether it was a pies supporter? Being serious though two things are disturbing re this story. One, scum bashing a woman and two why only a 72 year
old bothers to step in.
January 02, 2009 12:00am FOOTY legend Ron Barassi was bashed when he went to help a young woman in a New Year's celebration turned sour. Barassi, 72, was knocked down and kicked in the head as he lay on the ground in Fitzroy St, St Kilda, about 12.30am. He suffered bruises to the head but did not go to hospital. "If you see a woman being belted up, you step in. It's like when a kid is being bashed. It's not right," Barassi said. "I'm OK. I went for my 5km walk today. It'd take more than a prick like that to stop me." Barassi had been at a St Kilda restaurant with friends, including yachting great John Bertrand. As he left he saw the woman being attacked, and chased the thug. "All I saw was this guy belting up a woman. "I took after him but I don't know what happened then. I ended up on the ground and was then kicked. "I was lying on the footpath. I had my arms covering my eyes." The 10-time premiership player and coach was nursing a sore head yesterday and reluctant to talk about the attack. The incident happened so quickly, Barassi was unsure if there was one or more attackers. He did not go to hospital or report the attack to police. "I don't see the point. I didn't see anyone," he said. "I wasn't knocked out or anything." But he suspected that New Year's Eve revellers would have seen the attack. "It made an interesting start to the year." Barassi's reputation as a fearless but fair player saw him made an Australian Football Hall of Fame Legend. He played in six Melbourne premiership sides between 1955 and 1964, including two as captain. He coached Carlton to the 1968 and 1970 premierships before switching to North Melbourne and leading the Kangaroos to their first flag in 1975 and
again in 1977.

Clokenator I think bashing a 72yo is equal if not worse than roughing up a women. Regardless of the 72yo being the only one to step in in any case. The
person that did this must be a despicable character.
