I reckon we just have to break this down into facts:

1. Our best players are ageing and falling away, we need to either bite the bullet and re-load now or have a Carlton like event on the horizon.

2. Said to be the best draft in years (some say best ever), as such first round picks are gold, let alone 2 in the top 10!

3. Tarrant had currency and he had baggage with us a change was needed for both parties.

4. Malthouse could not get through to him and one of them had to go (I would have prefered Malthouse but that's life).

5. Freo had to off Medhurst for cap relief, I am pretty sure we would have taken pick 8 on its own but who knows maybe he can do something ( i see him as the set of free steak knifes).

6. It all comes down to how we use the picks if we nail two guns we will be laughing. In essence we will have had 4 top 10 picks join the club in the last 2 years, Egan at 11 and Travis who would have been first round via father sun.

I reckon it is a fair trade and if we get guns we will be in front. We have always failed to trade fairly and missed out, this time we bit the bullet.
